I getting into NFL again lately after a long time away.

The last time I watched a game was about 2007 or so.

I need to be a bit more committed and actually get behind a team this time.

I need one comparable to Everton in culture, fans, etc.

I'm thinking...

Colts
49ers
Bears
Vikings

Any thoughts?

Vikings may be your best bet. Team on the rise with good youngsters, anchored by 2/3 experienced players.

The rest are losers on the decline.

Of these, the Bears.

They are an original NFL team, established, coached, and owned for fifty plus years by the man probably most responsible for establishing the NFL, George Halas. The history is right. They have fans who know how to enjoy winning, and know how to suffer when they don't.

When they are good, they are good in a very dominating way, but mostly they rip the hearts out of their loyal fans.

They were last champions in 1985-86. Hmmm...

Oh. And Ditka. (Yell Ditka! and drink what you're holding)

However, I can offer you no joy for the upcoming season regarding these Bears. They are slated to be dire this year, IMHO.

How are the packers looking this year? Looking forward to this starting up again on Sunday nights.

As long as Rodgers is around they'll be in the playoffs.

The league has become so QB-centric that once you have an established franchise QB, then playoffs are nearly guaranteed (as long as he remains healthy).

Otherwise you have to do it with smoke and mirrors while they are developing. See Brady's first couple of SB runs...same with Wilson in Seattle.

Have to agree with @mezzrow here. Bears jumped out the most to me on that list of teams most like everton

They were the franchise I was leaning to...

Bears it is!!!

Not many on here will get the Dave Krieg reference.

Think Gus Bradley is on the hot seat this season? Hasn't really worked out for him so far.

Yes. Last night didn't help.

I'd love to see Gus succeed, whether he's here or somewhere else - but... We love Gus here - if he was a bellend, he'd have been long gone.

Last night was the same mental weakness and mistake-prone [redacted] we've been watching for over half a decade now. This has to change.

Kind of like the Martinez mess without any winning at all, tbh.

Bortles is the real deal, though. Put him on your fantasy team with Hearns and you'll be in high cotton.
