The colts are bad rats . I despise them about as much as it is possible for an Englishman to despise a yank sports team .

Agreed. Proper clubs never bug out in the middle of the night.

You'll find a lot of friends in Duval County. That line will buy you a drink almost anywhere here.

edit: also - Don't be sucked in by the way their kit looks like Everton playing American footy.

That bailing in the middle of the night is something those rats across the park would do . Snakes .

I getting into NFL again lately after a long time away.

The last time I watched a game was about 2007 or so.

I need to be a bit more committed and actually get behind a team this time.

I need one comparable to Everton in culture, fans, etc.

I'm thinking...

Colts
49ers
Bears
Vikings

Any thoughts?

Because of parity, things change quickly in the NFL. Unless you're drawn by a specific player or history, pick colors/helmet you like and a city you would enjoy visiting.

He does a podcast called Americarnage with Michael Carlson during the season, kills an hour and they talk football. Think he has another show for Talksport where they cover all the American Sports. He is very good.

That sounds fun, I might give it a go. The locals make me want to slam my head against the desk with their pedantry.

I really love the NFL but can't really claim to be an expert, but to me Kapernick always was a bit of an enigma, he's basically a QB who can't really throw the ball properly or something? lol

The game is so fast, very few learn to read a defense and move through the progression successfully. Most QBs need a simplified playbook then make mistakes when trying to be elaborate. I didn't really like Peyton, but his ability to read a defense is legendary.
