The Habs remind me so much of Carlton in the aussie rules football league. Carlton are historically the most successful football club in Australia, but they haven't won the big prize since 1995. The Habs are the greatest NHL club of all time, but haven't won a Stanley Cup since 1993. Although hopefully that will be rectified in a few weeks! So the Habs and Carlton have a lot in common. The similarities don't end there though, both clubs have the letter C on the front of their shirts as well.I am very nervous. I have never seen us in a Stanley cup finals. I have seen us lose in the Eastern conference finals a few times but this is all new.
I've been following the Habs since we moved to Ottawa (about 20 years ago now) because my Dad told me they were our team. Actually worked for years in Ottawa's stadium and have taken plenty of abuse off of their fans as they're my mates. Working during their Stanley cup finals run was a pain in the arse.
I got my first quality Habs jersey this year when they came out with a blue retro reverse (Gallagher). I caved after the last round and ordered the red home Price jersey. I never thought building a franchise around a goalie was a wise move in the modern NHL despite Montréal's history. He's completely shown me up and I love him for it. We are here off his back.
