Pretty incredible to sell both for 11.5mil rising potentially to 13.5mil. You do wonder what people see in them.

I agree. How can people earn money by observing the likes of Victor and Jelavic (presumably over a period of time) and then advise the clubs they scout for they should be pursued with bids of that magnitude?

depends which club it is. Sometimes it's desperation for what they have convinced themselves is a quick fix. Agents will always want major cash, it's just some managers and clubs know how to work them. Others don't and pay inflated prices. Sometimes the best in the game get stung. It's just a dirty business really.

Even so, though, if you have two eyes in your head it's pretty hard to convince yourself that players who are very limited and have the odd good game in ten are worth that kind of money.

Makes me laugh how much stick Kone got before he'd even kicked a ball for us. He'd had a very handy season the one prior to joining us but he was slaughtered for costing 5/6M. Imagine the uproar if we'd signed either Jelavic or Anichebe for the fee we got/will get!!

I remember feeling like he'd never, ever miss a chance. he was boss, for a bit.

This ^

His 1 touch finishing from the Jan to the end of the season, was sublime. Like you say Ste, you always thought he was going to score when a chance presented itself & invariably he did. I remember saying he was the most natural finisher that I'd see at Goodison in donkeys.

Quite what happened to him over that summer I've no idea, but the man we've seen since is a husk of the player we first witnessed.

But the ability must still be there & if Bruce can get his confidence back up, then he could have signed a gem from their perspective. Part of me is sad to see him leave, as I've seen what he's capable of & it's frustrating that he could go elsewhere & rediscover his form

...I can see him rediscovering some form and getting a few goals in Hull quest. I stand by my view, however, that his game doesn't fit the RM team model. I get the impression RM has never really wanted him and will be delighted to get some dosh off somebody who is more his type of player.

His fall from grace was phenomenal to say the least. Wish him all the best where ever he ends up. That headed chance for Lukaku yesterday I expected him to score, whereby if that chance was coming to Jela, on current form, I would have expected him to miss. Maybe he believed his own hype, maybe defenders worked him out. Either way, that little cameo from Jan 2012 to the end of that season was decent.
