Why on earth does anyone think Bernard is a central player. He played all of 22 minutes outside of wing in his entire time at Shaktar. He's a wing and a very good one. Why would you move him? We also already have 3 or 4 left sided players - Lookman, Bernard, Richarlison, Onyenkuru.

Lookman is also MUCH better on the left than on the right. We need to stop putting him over there, it's a complete waste.

I said left footed not left sided! Lookman, Bernard, Richarlison and Onyekyru all right footed. I want someone who can offer a different threat as full backs know they all prefer cutting in.

As for Bernard being a central player its just his skill set makes me think he would play well in that position in this league. He won't get as many goals as Sigurdsson but I think he would contribute to the creation of more chances.

Ok, left footer, agree. But still don't know why you would want to move Bernard.

Always liked him, he has something about him for sure but he may rightly or wrongly look at lookman and think it better to force a move, I wouldn't really blame him either

Agree, I think he's a super player, but he will probably think he's done more than enough this season to warrant a starting spot at a Europa/CL club. I can't see the appeal of coming to warm our bench to be honest.

Re Lookman, he'll look at Sancho and Nelson who are getting good game time in Germany, versus the likes of Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea who aren't. He's actually similar to Loftus-Cheek in many ways, as LC showed he had something in the WC (imo), yet has made 1 start in the PL all season. Louis van Gaal said in an interview the other day that it's no good for their development when kids get a few minutes as sub at the end of the game. They need to start matches, and Lookman must have been really frustrated seeing Walcott continually picked ahead of him.

Yeah, plus i get the impression with lookman that even if he gets a start, unless he is MOTM he will be dropped

Really think he could be great competition / long term replacement for Sig, hope Silva gives him a chance next season.

It's a shame. With Vlasic, it's hard not to draw comparisons with Dowell, as they're similar players, both born at the same time, yet Vlasic has won international honours, played nearly 40 times in Europe and has over 160 senior games under his belt. Dowell has 1 European game in a dead rubber, barely 50 senior appearances and is struggling to make an impact at Sheffield United. It's literally chalk and cheese.

The team is better now than when Vlasic went on loan.
He could just have been short of confidence with the the dross around him at the time.
So he could be a better player and an asset next season. Hope so.

I think if we get a decent offer for him we should sell him. I think he is a good player, but I don't know his best position, he wouldn't get into the starting 11 and I think our squad is so large, particularly with midfielders, we need to off load some in this area and strengthen up front and in defence with players who will be in our starting 11. He seems to want to leave as well.

The squad is large, but it's not really large at the moment. Silva has used 18 players this season in any meaningful way, 22 if you count the minor contributions from Holgate, Jags, Baines and Niasse. So if you assume they're the players Silva wants, it's not a big squad at all, especially when you consider guys like Schneiderlin and Lookman haven't really been involved that much, Davies seems no more likely a starter than Vlasic does, and both Gomes and Zouma are on loan.

Has anyone been watching him in Russia at all? Has he been playing on the left for CSKA or as a number 10?
