Love how this guy is the new Lookman and the apparent saviour of our club. Another group, they are all going " I said we should have kept him..." etc

He was crap CRAP for us last season and has had a couple of good games in a B league. Hope he does well and comes back firing but lets not Everton him just yet eh?

Without wishing to digress from Vlasic, DCL is definitely down to Unsworth who had worked with him at Sheff Utd when they were both there and persuaded the board to buy him for £1.5 mill at a time when we had no manager. As you say, as a minimum we’ll turn a decent profit on him.

The period that Unsworth was at Sheff United, DCL was 7 - 10 year old ffs........ he would have not known about him, let alone worked with him.

Its more likely that DCL impressed against Unsworths U23 teams, for Sheff Utd.

Unsworth left Sheffield United in summer 2013, when DCL was 16. He made his first team debut in January 2014, so I would imagine Unsworth was well aware of him.

Ah fair enough mate, I had not even realised he coached at Sheff United, I was thinking only about his playing career.

He can’t have been that crap considering he got himself into the Croatia team at the age of 20 who have one of the best midfields in the world

He wasn't crap, though.

Btw, I agree with you - I'm not going to say he was going to be the difference or shouldn't have been loaned out.

But, he wasn't crap.

HE WAS CRAP, TELL ME ONE GOOD GAME/15 MINS HE HAD LAST SEASON IN THE PREM

BTW, I really liked him when we played him in Europe but he was dross last season, hence going out on loan.

We signed DCL on deadline day 2016, when Koeman was manager.

I'm not saying Unsy wasn't the key, he clearly was, but we did have a manager.

Arsenal at home. He was the only player to play well. Tottenham at home he came on and looked sharp from the bench. Brighton away he was arguably the only one of our mob who came close to playing well.

Bare in mind all of these displays were in a disfunctioning team, and Koeman was soon sacked. He was settling into a new league but was showing promising signs both domestically and in Europe.

Unsworth, for whatever reason, binned him off. He came on against Newcastle I think under Sam and played well, yet then again was in and out of the side until one random start against United at home.

He wasn't crap.

Are you reading the same thread as me?. Looked back over the last 4 pages and a post from me is probably the most positive thing in here. And all I'm saying is that he showed better form when played down the middle in a couple of games under Koeman, so am not surprised he's doing well there now for CSKA.

I haven't seen one OTT comment about him. Not one person saying anything to even imply he is the new "Lookman" or "saviour" of the club. Or one poster, never mind a "group of posters" saying that we should have kept him etc, as you suggest.

A few people are saying that it's good to see him doing well on loan, and if he keeps it up he could come back into the squad next season along with one or two of our other loan players, and potentially save us a few mill in the transfer market. But there are just as many posters reminding us that he is playing at a lower standard so not to get carried away.

I agree with those 3 games you mentioned. Was our best player in each game IMO and it would be interesting to see if @AndyC still has the MOM figures from those games to see what others thought.

But apart from that mate he was pretty crap. But then again almost everybody else was too.

I wasn't surprised when he went on loan this season and think it was the right decision. I'm really pleased he's doing well and, more importantly, being played quite often through the middle as he get's more involved there.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a recall into the Croatia squad for the upcoming game against England and it'll be interesting to see if he gets any game time. He's up against it with their midfield though.
