NO WAYS

it showed a fundamental lack of character to do what he did. he is not a child. he is 21 years old. the age most of us are living away from home making life decisions without mummy or daddy or anyone else. he told the club he was flying home. no doubt under the pretense that he was getting his affairs in order. imagine bill kenwrights shock when he sees a story on valencias web site that he has signed a contract for them and is is in spain taking a medical.

it's low and cheap and long after his career is over those characteristics will remain with him. the man has no backbone.

Not trying to excuse the apparent behaviour.

Modern day footballers as it seems are a different breed, from a young age they are pandered to by hangers on, told that theyre the greatest thing since sliced bread, people running around organising everything for them.

If this in fact turns out to be true, I will finally understand part of DM's fascination with only signing honest british players.

Two points. The fee offered by Valencia which was more than our offer was just for Benfica's share not the whole lot as I read it. Secondly it is the FA who are the culpable party they were taking so long to make a decision that it left the door open for us to be gazumped.

One more point is that Valencia may well have offered more on his personal terms.

The other problem now is Yakuba and the work permit, if that is not approved and we do not sign him, how can Yakubu go back to Boro and play? Don't you think that Wyness et al should have been aware of this?

Methinks the Everton management better do some more home work quick like to find other suitable targets, not many more days left. It also points to Everton and their crock way of signing players.

The story is everywhere so I think we can safely conclude the Manny deal is dead.

AS for the Yak, I foresee more problems. He withdrew from their int'l squad last year so the club's attempt at saying his non selection was due to being at cross purposes with the Nigerian coach is a bit tenuous. Not just that but when would the club's appeal be heard? It is now the 27th so when exactly does the transfer window end? IMO the club should withdraw from the Yak deal and leave Boro with egg on their face and move in quickly and heavily on Blackburn's McCarthy, should be cheaper than the Yak anyway.

As for the midfield clearly Da Silva needs to be recalled, now what other midfielders would fill the vacuum left by the failure of the Manny deal that we could chase. A difficult one that is, at the moment I have little idea other than Riqulme. Offers?

3 days left, I doubt we will have enough time for Plan C. Having said that, moyes spotted at old trafford yesterday, Darren Fletcher? Oh my god NOOOOOOO.............

According to icLiverpool, Everton were shocked about the news and are willing to pay even more than Valencia, but cant contact Fernandes.
BEMUSED Everton officials were last night trying to contact Manuel Fernandes in a bid to resurrect his move to Goodison Park.

The club were stunned to see Valencia claiming that he had joined them from Benfica just hours after verbally agreeing his switch to Everton with chairman Bill Kenwright following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

But the Spaniards released a statement saying they had finalised a six-year deal with the Portuguese Under-21 international and are understood to be paying £10million for a 50% ownership.

However, it is believed Everton were willing to break their transfer record yet again with a £12million fee to buy Fernandes out of his third-party ownership with Global Sports Agency.

Gotta push for some hope here, Moyes must be shocked. Why didnt we make him sign something that could have taken him off the market while the premier league goes through the contract??? (read that on some site) but why the [Poor language removed] not   :( :(

Well its obvious he doesn't want to play in a decrepid ground, with no CL football and in a side that quite frankly was poor on Saturday when he was there.

He's gone, money talks, forget the sob and move on. What can the club resurrect from this debacle. Who can they go for?

What of the Yak problems mentioned in my earlier post, still think the club should pull out of this and make a shock bid for McCarthy.

The thing that is pissing me off the most is its not like he's going to get games at Valencia with Albelda playing in his position. I really don't understand his reasoning for cutting loose on Everton and cutting off all ties. I hope that a deal can still be pushed through for him but if it can't then we must act on someone else asap.

[Poor language removed] man why does the official website let us know [Poor language removed] all, the only thing I can think about all day is Manuel Fernandes

I think Nolan would actually be very good, its a big guy, great shooting skills and can thread some good passes through and with Bolton looking awful I wouldnt be suprised if he accepted.
