Not that it would ever happen, but there’s zero room to develop or enlarge the ground at Waterloo, due to houses on three sides and the railway on the other.

When Waterloo went bust as a pro team, they had to sell a load of land to developers to balance the books.

Nice spot though and the club house is more like a pub - sells good ale too - one my lads played for them for a decade.

Marine 3-1 Rushall Olympic

in truth a poor game which game came to life in the 80th minute.

I left on 94 minutes to beat the rush, and missed 2 goals in a minute.

My understanding is it's the first time Marine have left the relegation zone since September.

Losses for Needham & Warrington mean Marine are out on GD.

Saturday meaningful fixtures:

Chester (1st) vs. Rushall
Leamington (15th) Vs. Farsley
Marine Vs. Brackley (3rd)
Buxton (5th) vs. Radcliffe
Needham Market Vs. Oxford City
Spennymoor (13th) vs. Warrington

Farsley chairman resigned last night, having made the side travel to Buxton for every home game for the past 5 months. Blamed everyone but himself in his statement (despite stating he isnt). They may legitimately struggle to see out the season.

Over the years, I`ve been Farsley a few times, as we`ve got mates who live quite close to the ground.

It`s a lovely little place and you feel like you`re almost in the countryside, considering Leeds is only about five miles away.

When they had their own ground, they had teams that ran from the kids, all the way to the seniors (our mates lad played for one of the kids teams )

The club and ground was part of the fabric of the community - similar to Marine.

Sadly the writing was on the wall when the mad chairman moved them to Buxton - how the hell is anyone supposed to get to Buxton from Farsley over those Peak District passes in the Winter on a Tuesday evening and that includes the team !!!!!

12 games to go in the NPL West and Widnes have put themselves in pole position in the title race. A massive 0-0 draw away at Hednesford yesterday with Vauxhall and Congleton both losing. All about holding our nerve now and matching the results of the teams behind us.

After Saturdays disappointing result at home to Brackley, which saw Marine fall back into the relegation zone, Marine were comfortable victorious last night against Phil Brown's Kidderminster Harriers.

Down 1-0 after 5 minutes, Kane Hemmings missed a sitter to double the lead before Marine equalised with a 30 yard strike from Jack Hazlehurst.

A very dodgy red card (it was NEVER a red card) for Kidderminster was followed by 2 quick goals by Chris Doyle to bring Marine their second win on a week, and level with Needham in the relegation scrap which I think now excludes Farsley, Rushall & Warrington Town (who were unlucky away to King's Lynn).

Other Local Results

Prescot 1-0 Bamber Bridge
3 points means they're even closer to survival against a relegation rival.

Stafford Rangers 1-2 Bootle.

Bootle up to 11th, but still only 7 points clear of the drop. Yet 8 points off the playoffs, such the joys of the NPLW.

City Of Liverpool 0-2 Mossley

Relegation looms for the *only* Non-League Liverpool club (Sorry Lower Breck & South Liverpool). Stuck at the bottom of the league on 15 points, they are 22 points off Kidsgrove, with a maximum of 33 points available. Counties beckons!

Great to see everyone got a result in Non-League this weekend.

Radcliffe 0-1 Marine

Second game of 2025 missed, but I'll take it. First time Marine have won back to back games all season long and it's a massive result.

Now stand 3 points clearly of Needham Market, who play their game in hand on Tuesday. Needham goal difference stands identical to Marines, but have advantage on goals scored, 13 days time Marine travel to Needham, that'll be huge.

Other results yesterday locally

Brackley 1-0 Southport

9 points clear of the drop zone.

Prescot 1-0 Whitby - 7 points clear now with around 10 games to go for most, a whole host of teams below them. A remarkable effort given the off field turmoil in the off-season.

Bootle 0-1 Hednesford
Chasetown 2-3 Runcorn Linnets
City of Liverpool 2-8 (EIGHT) Nantwich Town
Clitheroe 4-0 Widnes
Mossley 0-1 Vauxhall

Warrington Town dragged themselves off the bottom of National League North yesterday with a late equaliser against Chorley, despite the referee being bad enough to be considered for the Premier League . Chorley's main tactic was to throw themselves to the ground and rely on the referee to award them a free kick.

Only just seen that Warrington equalised.

Blimey! We put 3 past Chorley, not entirely sure how they're as high as they are?
