Non League Football

Great to see everyone got a result in Non-League this weekend.

Radcliffe 0-1 Marine

Second game of 2025 missed, but I'll take it. First time Marine have won back to back games all season long and it's a massive result.

Now stand 3 points clearly of Needham Market, who play their game in hand on Tuesday. Needham goal difference stands identical to Marines, but have advantage on goals scored, 13 days time Marine travel to Needham, that'll be huge.

Other results yesterday locally

Brackley 1-0 Southport

9 points clear of the drop zone.

Prescot 1-0 Whitby - 7 points clear now with around 10 games to go for most, a whole host of teams below them. A remarkable effort given the off field turmoil in the off-season.

Bootle 0-1 Hednesford
Chasetown 2-3 Runcorn Linnets
City of Liverpool 2-8 (EIGHT) Nantwich Town
Clitheroe 4-0 Widnes
Mossley 0-1 Vauxhall

Widnes game was painful. I made the hour long trip for it, left on 65 minutes. Blindsided me completely, not scored in 3 games now and need to snap out of it quickly.

Luckily everyone below us is just as inconsistent. Vauxhall defeat last night opens the door for us to re establish a 6 point gap if we beat Avro tonight.

NL South relegation 6 pointer last night at St Albans City, decent ground with a good view from the terraces and beer available in each corner. View attachment 296540View attachment 296541
Classic old non league ground is that. Saved Welling from relegation years ago because they wouldn't cut down a tree that used to be in the middle of one of the terraces.

Well the question of whether we could bounce back from a 4-0 defeat was emphatically answered last night.

Avro 0-4 Widnes. 6 point gap at the top restored with 10 games to go. Hugely important confidence restoring win. 10 cup finals now to close it out. COYW ⚪⚫

If anyone's at a loose end tomorrow; lots of Non-League Action tomorrow.

Marine Vs Hereford. A big crowd expected for the shock form game of the weekend in the National League North.

£15 for Adults.

Chester Vs. Needham Market - Chester have a chance to beat disappointment of draw with Oxford City in Tuesday, and extend lead at top of National League North.

Runcorn Linnets Vs. City of Liverpool - big game for both sides. Runcorn need a win to keep Playoff hopes alive; CoL more or less down; they need a miracle. 25 points adrift with 30 points available.

Widnes Vs. Bootle.

Widnes have a chance to close in on promotion with with a big game against Bootle.

I saw Beckenham beat Littlehampton away 2-1. A very odd ground Littlehampton. Cricket on one side so a temporary fence. Big concrete clubhouse bar and a new main stand which replaced the ancient one that was there last time I visited.
Ice cream van parked up so my kids enjoyed it.

A few are like that Guiseley & Matlock both have Cricket fields on either side of the ground.

Matlock often switch ties in August (apparently), if their games clash with the cricket.

This is my pic from Hallam F.C. , the cricket ground is behind the players in the background. I don’t suppose they need a fence in November.
