Actually yeah, he actually marshalled the actual centre of the actual park in the actual second half. One of the actual reasons we actually almost lost the actual game.

That wasn't his role today though. His role was to be a box-to-box player and he did that well. Also, he put in a fantastic cross that Rom should've scored from.

Mate its not RAWK because fans aren't happy with 'mid-table or so' thats not RAWK not at all, I'm not saying we should get CL I'm saying this season we should be able to compete, when you look around and look at the talent we have, yet we aren't
It's not RAWK to be unhappy with our form, it is RAWK to just say "17 wins in 50" every single time anyone presents you with any point of debate, however.

Perhaps he's incompetent then. Perhaps this side bursting with talent and youthful genius is just average. Perhaps Everton fans shouldn't expect more than this.

We're 6th in the league at present. Probably drop down to 8th at the end of the weekend. It is not a million miles away from where we should be. 5th-8th in this league.

You're acting like we're in the bottom half like last season.

If he marshalled he center of the park then he gave a pretty good performance. And for what it's worth I think most would say that he did control the center in the first half and was one of the few decent ones in the second

Never had a period like this before
In the season before we won the championship in 1970 we played some fantastic stuff as THT got their act together. Finished third and I just knew that we were on the brink of something very special. I know.....I know.....it's the hope brutally dashed that wears you out.
But I've been watching Everton since 1962 and feel that excitement now for the first time since Ball Harvey Kendal. Too young to have appreciated the 1963 vintage. The 1984/85 side was in essence a surprise that started in or around that Oxford match and built momentum from there.
But I can honestly say that I feel the same about the Fab Four now as I did in those far off days of the late sixties. They're playing football the way it should be played. Forget boring Utd and Chelsea. Ignore the nouveau riche Man City......they're impostors. This Everton side are the real deal......just a few young players who are getting some tough lessons about closing games out with professionalism. I for one would rather hope for better from them over time.
Frustrated with Bournemouth and today of course but also the most excited I've been since 1969 for the purity of the football we're playing. Absolutely love the passing game we have. With my length of service I can truthfully say "Everton that"[/QUOTE]

Great post this. I see the same. I think many of us see it. But the one problem is the game has changed. Teams with talented players like this that don't get results get broken up. We can only rebuff transfers for so long in the modern era. Sooner or later they'll all want to be earning mega bucks and playing in the champions league.

Now is the moment. Not next season or the season after.

good post mate. compare this to the dreadful displays the same time last year. you can't argue with our performances in 90% of the games this season just the results could have been better.

Incredibly frustrating but knew it would happen because, as a great man once said, this is Everton and Everton do Everton things.

We should have been 4 clear by HT, and that's down to the players. We then do our usual thing of falling asleep for the first five minutes of the second half. Also, Howard... there comes a point where enough has to be enough. He's useless. Yet another goal conceded from a set piece and from a cross directly into his six-yard box.

Overall, one of the best 45 minutes of football I've seen this season in the first half. Lets at least not take away how good we were - the negative was that we didn't get another (at least) and put the game to bed.

Second half, we were inept, and that grock centre half had Rom in his pocket. It was a good change by Neil, who today showed more astute tactics than Martinez. His refusal to use his last sub was baffling - a perfect game for Naismith to come on and harry and hassle their defence.

Howard - 5 - He's useless. RM's main fault is not giving Joel a chance.
Coleman - 8 - Thought he was superb today. Our MOTM for me.
Stones - 6 - Looked a bit shaky at times but still our best player at the back.
Funes-Mori - 6 - Poor in possession today but made some good blocks and tackles.
Baines - 6 - Great to have him back and you can see the difference he makes going forward. Still looked a bit leggy but that's to be expected.
Barry - 7 - Brilliant in the first half. Looked far less composed in the second.
Deulofeu - 7 - Fantastic in the first half, but lost his head in the second and got frustrated.
Cleverley - 7 - Thought he was excellent again.
Barkley - 6 - He controlled the game in the first half without actually doing all that much, but struggled in the second.
Kone - 6 - Good link up play as always but missed two good chances and tired after 60 mins. RM can't seem to take him off though.
Lukaku - 6 - Great goal but missed a sitter after that. Not his best game given the form he's in.

Mirallas - 5 - Didn't take the chance to put himself back into contention to start, unfortunately, though it doesn't help he was shipped out left.
Gibson - 5 - His composure really helped us control the end of the game, but made some stupid decisions re. long passes and shots.

How you can summon the energy to even rate individual players is commendable. I haven't left my seat. Just sitting here in a depression.

I was very critical of Martinez last season as week in week out the players under performed. However this season we have once again returned to the attractive football we enjoyed in Roberto's first season with us. But what cannot be denied is that under Roberto's headship our defending has steadily got worse. The lack of clean sheets the team has experienced this season is the number 1 reason why this team which has so much attacking flair, won't be competing for the champions league places. I wonder which one of the coaches is working with the defenders as our defending at corners is at best mediocre. United have been awful for the majority of the season, but have been able to grind out results despite lacking the creative flair we have. The bigger picture is far more worrying. If Roberto cannot shore up this defence, then the vultures will once again be circling around our 'top talents' come the summer. Everton, these players and supporters deserve european football to showcase their talents. I fear unless we win the league cup we won't.

Defeat coming up against Leicester

They will rinse us at the back

Players need to get a grip and stop bottling it at the first sign of the other team having a go

Martinez can only be blamed so much, The same players who dominated the first 45 stank the gaff out after halve time
Coaches are always blamed for defeats and team problems...he is responsible never the players
They are all skilled professionals, if u can't get the best of them then u failed...simple as that...

Lets be real.

We play down to the level of our competition. We also play up.

If we get the 6 extra points from the last three games. Christ on a snowflake cracker this forum would be drunker than an uncle on egg nog.
Correct the mental aspect of that 30 minutes or so during the game and we would/could be boss going into the second half of the year.
