Think overall, nothing much has changed.

If I'm looking for improvements, we need to get another central midfielder as we look thin in there. Someone with a bit of mobility about him.

Also, I thought Fellaini was a monster today. I hope we keep him by the end of the window as he'll be a big miss and hard to replace. He was disrupting play at the back, causing havoc up front. He's a rare breed.

I've got concerns about our intensity and tempo. After seeing the RS today, their pass and movement had a pace about it. We need to step it up. A Chelsea etc will hound and pick us off easily. The passing needs to quicker to break those teams down.

I hope Pienaar and Osman find some form quick because if they're gonna play, they need to offer more rather than be hit and miss.

norwich had a chance like that today and howson ran at distin and tried to strip him for pace, he gave up after a couple of paces because our 35 year old defender left him for dead. we have a pacey back four. My main concern is when the linesmen get the offside wrong and then we're in trouble

i think it must have been an injury, possibly just precaution, i know he was fairly annonymous, but there's no way martinez would have taken him off tactically after the pre-season he's had.

good to see us look threatening even when he's not at the races

Yeah with Distin or Coleman we might be OK, but if it was Jags, Baines, Johnny, Felli, Osman, Gibson, Pienaar, Jelly etc..

Problem with such a high line is you leave yourself open to quick counters which means you need to get back quick, something 90% of team can't do. Someone like Walcott or Bale would leave them for dead.

I don't think it's a bad tactic I just think we need to be careful with it. We will murder some teams this year but I fully expect a few 3,4,5 nil hammerings too.
 
Just back from the match. Disappointed with the draw. Norwich were ordinary and again its points dropped like last season when we should have won at a canter.

The big plus was obviously Barkley who was outstanding. Reminded me of when Gascogne played against us in 86 at 18 for Newcastle. He was magnificent today.

The biggest disappointment for me were the performances of osman and pienaar. Both are slow, ponderous and give the ball away. I knew ossie was finished, how on earth he got 2 more years is beyond me. But pienaar looks gone too and he has 3 years left!

why would we have jelavic playing a high line at centre back???

i don't think we'll take much hammerings, we'll concede more than we normally do, but we'll score more, i know which one i'd rather see. Goal difference goes to goals scored, not goals conceded.

we also took a fair few hammerings under moyes' tenure playing a deeper line, so swings and roudabouts
