I understood it. A shorter version of what I would have said, if I had done more revision passes (and had the benefit of hindsight), probably goes like this: "Gang, I know you're having fun, and farming likes, but you're also doing exactly what they want you to do. I'm guilty of this, too. It's why they're being so persistent, and not listening. It's a tactic, and I'm afraid it works in the social media space. They're trying to activate the center-right, and reach the center, by making you look intolerant when you run out of patience. Can we agree to just all put them on ignore and have done with it? A joint agreement on this one is in your best interest. It's also in my best interest, even though there's plenty we disagree about, because we agree re: Trump/Boris."

The other reason I didn't say it is that it didn't occur to me soon enough. We were already trending down the rabbit hole, and I didn't think it would stick in context. That one's on me.
Is it balls.

Yeah, I should have ignored my political instincts. If I do it that way, at least I find out whether it works. This way, I get regret. I made a cold social standing calculation, when I should have thrown caution to the wind, instead.

I hate that feeling, even though I also know it's the thing that makes me learn.

That and GOT multi's trolling, innit - but its fine, all will be OK. ;)
Reasons for trolling vary from person to person. Some people do it out of boredom, and some want to get a response from the celebrity they idealize. Some do it for seeking attention, while there may be others who have negative social potency. According to research, people who are insecure and want to get a kick out of being hostile towards others are more likely to troll. People with a propensity to seek excessive stimulation have often been found trolling.

A psychoanalytic study suggests that people with antisocial, narcissistic behavior and sadistic personality disorder are more likely to perpetrate trolling behavior. These people derive pleasure and enjoyment from being intentionally cruel to others, with a disproportionate cohort found among football communities.

Yeah, I've never understood the whole multi thing, at all. Your explanation is probably why. I'm not above the odd bit of trolling, when torqued enough, but it's not all that easy to get me there.
The old rule works well to this day. If you feel a certain gravitational pull from a post, pat it on the head. If it smells like a kopite put it in the bin. If its clearly insane, view from a safe distance.

Can't second guess yourself cos some ballbags turns up parroting heinrich himler, at what point are the dinosaur chasers not ripe for mockery? There were some great laughs and situations in the CA, the menu of current news and the 24 hourly feeding of lends itself to a reactionary stance, obviously sometimes it can be very sad, it's not on you or anyone to be fronting down the bellends, they expose themselves and their bigotry and get pilloried accordingly. Shame about 'regret', can't really turn the clock back.

No, but as I said, I realize that I only learn from my mistakes. I've learned to admit them, own them and not get too bent about them, unless I really screwed it up in a way that leads to huge consequences. This is not one of those times. The result is unfortunate, but it's also very small in the grand scheme of things.

It is at times like this you really do need to put the kettle on.

They'll get one of those bot filters, spot the buses, find the clouds, highlight the crosswalks etc and that'll put some off. The accounts posting 400 words in a matter of seconds hopefully get squished. I expect the ai stuff out there to find its way through but when the majority of it is 'how great is putin/trump' and 'how rubbish is the woke boogieman etc' then again, out of the biggest cannon there is.

GOT was sarcastic about a paywall, but I think it's probably what needs to happen for the sub-forum to work at present. We're in the middle of an all-out media war, and it didn't shock me that it came to CA the way that it did. IMO, the choice is between moderating CA, which I would never agree to do without a sizable attached paycheck, and building a barrier that keeps the trolls out.
Doesn’t just keep trolls out though does it. Not a fan of financial barriers to political discourse….even if only on a footy forum.
