Raul Jimenez got injured and that was the end of them, no focal point. Worryingly, he had no Plan B, no way of altering the team to play a different way. That and Fabio Silva is dreadful.

Someone said above they were decent for a bit early in the season, but they weren't; they just had a lot of nice easy fixtures in October and they either won them narrowly or didn't lose. Outside of Everton, they were the most aimless, pointless team in the league all season.

He's not the worst candidate by virtue of not being Eddie Howe, but he's just one of many mediocre ones. The problem is he hasn't done enough to justify a big job. He's did what a load of ultimately crap managers do here - decent initial impact, not maintained. We've given jobs to these types before in Martinez/Silva and it doesn't work out as the job is too big for them.

He can't be the best manager available in world football given the stupid wages we pay. We have to remember we're still one of the top 20 richest clubs in world football.

Great post. Couldn't put it better.
However most bookies have him odds on for our job.
That maybe because he is available , and has prem experience.
However he looked out of ideas , and in need of a break to me last season. He also reminds me of a Martinez / Silva type appointment , and therefore absolutely count me out.

They dont call him Super NES for nothing. Next season we will see him playing:

The Legend of Gylfi
Iwobi the Hedgehog
Donkey Kong Keane
Super Mason Karthorse
thanks for the bit of inspiration. Hopefully slippy santos can do a decent job!
SuperNES.webp

Some absolute stains on here, I for one would welcome this appointment, he has a clear way of playing which was absent under Silva and Carlo.
clear way of playing that isn't exactly the attacking football we all desperately crave
