I think Vic could do alright for them. On paper he's an asset: young, strong, home-trained, versatile...I don't think a swap is on the cards though.

I don't think anyone could even consider the possibility of a straight Anichebe-for-N'Zogbia swap without bursting out into an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

I was thinking more of cash + player. What do you reckon someone would pay for Vic? Presumably atleast the £2.5m that Vaughan went for.

Sold as a striker I think you'd be hard pressed to get more than Vaughan.

Sold as a winger/wide midfielder, I think with age and contract length factored in you can justify upwards of £5 million.

However crap he has been up front of late -- and he has been oh, so crap -- it has been partly down to Moyes. Persisting with him when it wasn't working and often leaving him isolated up there just made no sense. Out wide he can actually do things, and he's still only 23. He's not nearly as bad as we like to make out, I think we just get annoyed because right now we have a lot better but Moyes persists with him.

Yeah I would think around the same as Vaughan. Good buy for one of the prem newbys or a decent championship side.

He's basically Scouse like so he's like Hibbo.

I think part of the problem is that he's lost all confidence in front of goal. He'd rather hit the deck and try and win a set piece instead of shooting and risking missing. If we're playing with an isolated striker who won't shoot, then we're not going to score. His decision-making isn't great either. For the powerful runs that he does make, he only provided 1 assist last season. A spell on loan somewhere like Wigan might actually straighten him out a bit.

Get Kenny on the Phone ! He'd give us £20m for an average winger (y)

I think you're quite right on all accounts there.

There's a lot of context to his situation, basically. The fans are on his back (morons actually booed him on the back of a jarg paper story) and Moyes expects too much from him and utilises him terribly.

Go back to the season before last when he had a brief spell at RM. We got excited then because for a few games he looked ace, and managed to you know... actually score. He does have a cracking shot on him too when he has that confidence and does elect to shoot.

But it's a self-perpetuating cycle, unfortunately; he's playing badly -> fans get on his back -> that makes it worse -> fans get on his back.

As with most situations, Moyes's solution is to try and get him to play through it. Sometimes that compounds the problem though until you hit rock bottom. I think Vic is pretty much there now. He doesn't know whether he's a winger or a striker, whether he'll play or not and he has no idea where the next goal is coming from. A short spell in the Championship would probably do him the world of good. He's got all the raw ingredients, but he's little use to us as he is.

If he stays with us, I think you have a very good point. He needs regular playing time. I personally think the Championship should be his home, but a loan to test the waters would be fine with me if we can't sell him.

Spot on. He has definitely got loads of potential. What people forget is he had a very long time out injured and then kept getting niggly injuries and never got fully fit. Hopefully, with a good pre-season we can all see in the lad what Moyes obviously does.

Potential to be a Drogba type player is definitely there, but whether he realises it time will tell. Confidence and application is what is lacking with Vic.

I just wanna put my 2 pence worth in here if its ok with you chaps??

Iv been a big critic of vic but mainly because we have seen what he can do when he does apply himself. He could run through a brick wall. But yet he doesn't seem to have that about his game at the min, he seems to go down to easily now whether that's looking for the free kick or maybe he lost a bit of confidence in trying to power through after that Nolan tackle.
I watched Vic come through the ranks with Vaughany and I'll be honest and say I always thought Vaughan would make it ahead of Vic because Vic never looked interested at that level. He just seem to wander through games. But when he was brought into the 1st team he had a hunger that no one else did which seems to have faded.
We only see these players play oncee a week really were as Moyes an Co see them everyday in training, so they must be doing something right to be getting picked.

I said it about Bily and I'll say it about Vic the reason I personally get so frustrate with them is because they have talent, they have skill but they just look to lazy to want to apply themselves.
