Poor choices it seems, aren't something confined to modern managers after all. Lyons designed and approved many beautiful Jaguars, but saw nothing in this thing of beauty, a prototype replacement for the Daimler Dart. Although I have long admired his work I think Lyons let himself down when he dismissed this design.

It was a marmite car ... to me just about the ugliest looking but fantastic car ever made. This prototype would have removed the ugly and made it a real winner. Trouble is the Daimler brand had just been bought by Lyons' Jaguar so it might have distracted from their own marque.

Every era has classic designs (up to about 1980). Some great cars after that point but no great looking ones as aerodynamics and safety compromised the designers pencil.
