Old cars

If I'm honest - the only US car designs that have ever sat easy on my eyes are the Mustang, Dodge Charger, Ford Mercury Cougar and the Stingray they gave to the astronauts. Having said that the Tesla Model 3 is just about the only modern mass production car from anybody that I like the look of in the last 30 years so they haven't done too badly.

To each his/her own, but there are some lovely US designs over the years, even boxy shapes with nice edges. I'm sure Chewy can post about 30 cars that nobody else likes, but some of these give the feel of the carefree, open road ahead. Maybe that's just a Yank feeling, and the experience probably doesn't exist any more, but cars can still give the feeling.

There was a dart available in the US, the Dodge Dart. And the original Dart had a face only a grandmother could love (especially if she'd left her reading glasses at home), but the upgraded Dart Swinger was nice, a good alternative to the Charger (although it had none of the Charger's power).

The Charger and GTO were nice long body muscle cars, and the Chevy Monte Carlo was nice build like that almost a decade later.

But one of the iconic American designs is the 57 Chevy Bel Air. Probably horrible to drive, but looks great. Someone in our building owns one and it looks sharp.

A few more throwbacks:

I love all of the old Ford Broncos, even the ugly ones like this

I'm a sucker for almost any old truck, and love restomods

Leaving our shores, something is wrong with you if you don't love this:

Two more classics that I'd love to own. Any 911 will do, but I really like the 964.

But I'm more likely to find a 240z in a price I can afford:

Out of those you've listed ... I'm afraid I only like the 240z - and even then only enough that I wouldn't mind winning one in a raffle. Itsxsll down to personal taste and nostalgia I guess. Just about the only porshe I ever liked the look of us the mk 1 with chrome bumpers. This is hardly a surprise since everything they built since looks the same!

Porsches just looked like squashed Beetles to me. And they sound crap at anything less than full chat. I rather have a Baja bug.

There's a guy who does engine improvements to stock ones, he was on some Youtube show as a guest. Will look if I can find it again, as it made Porsche sound like what you'd expect it to.

Also they have the most boring design in general, not just for the 911's and 9XX series in general.

Was at a retreat with the gf and some friends, villa in the mountains and all that, over last weekend.

We went to the nearby ski resort to a shop and just for a walk... queue my surprise (and near ejaculation) to see several 70's Mustangs, a Mercedes SL and several other oldies but goldies...

Turns out there's a classic car meetup in town! Wasn't fast enough to get the camera out though.

Really trying to get to the Muscle Car show 2 weeks from now here, but I think work won't allow me to. FFS.

Also @Chewbacca did you have an old muscle car as well or am I mistaken?
