Old cars

Little local meet tonight. My mate brought his race prepped Falcon along. Real history to this car. Was shipped over brand new by Ford as one of eight to be prepped to run in the 1964 Monte Carlo rally. One of them (not this one) was fastest on every single stage but was placed second behind Paddy Hopkirk in a Mini Cooper due to a handicap system.

It was then left in the UK and converted for saloon car racing until the rules were changed to stop it winning again. This now runs in Historic Thundersaloons. It weighs 1100kg and the 400ci engine puts out around 680bhp. Andy drove it to the meeting on slicks and unsilenced ?

Was at a retreat with the gf and some friends, villa in the mountains and all that, over last weekend.

We went to the nearby ski resort to a shop and just for a walk... queue my surprise (and near ejaculation) to see several 70's Mustangs, a Mercedes SL and several other oldies but goldies...

Turns out there's a classic car meetup in town! Wasn't fast enough to get the camera out though.

Really trying to get to the Muscle Car show 2 weeks from now here, but I think work won't allow me to. FFS.

Also @Chewbacca did you have an old muscle car as well or am I mistaken?
Not real muscle cars. I’ve had a 66 Mustang Coupe, a 64 Buick Riviera and currently run a New Edge Mustang V8.

Some crap cars, a true classic in the Countach and a cool Dodge.

Don't @ me.

In case someone doesn't know this, as it's a cool bit of trivia - Countach basically means "holy crap" lol

SN95, 1995 to 2004, right? The one I personally like the least, design wise. Just looks nothing like how I'd want a Mustang to look, if that makes sense?

Knew I remembered you having a Mustang from several years ago on here though, believe you even had it as a profile picture? lol

The New Edge (1999-2004) was a restyle and power upgrade from the SN95 (1994-98).

The SN95 definitely looks a bit Japanese. The The New Edge was a definite improvement and moved to the modular SOHC engine from the old pushrod 5.0. Gained 50bhp from a smaller engine. To be honest, I had an expensive nightmare with Buick so wanted a cheap, reliable V8 and this exactly what it has turned out to be. As a bonus, it handles brilliantly for a live axle car and will do 30mpg (big English gallons) on a motorway run. I love it to bits.9336C256-8DE9-44C8-AD22-81EFE6F05E21.webp

Oh more power to you if you like it, and what you've listed is 100% reasonable and makes sense.

Just the design isn't that of a Mustang for me, you know?

That does look pretty though, as long as you don't see the front - brilliant! lol
