As a pure design exercise I love the 1961 Lincoln Continental

If I'm honest - the only US car designs that have ever sat easy on my eyes are the Mustang, Dodge Charger, Ford Mercury Cougar and the Stingray they gave to the astronauts. Having said that the Tesla Model 3 is just about the only modern mass production car from anybody that I like the look of in the last 30 years so they haven't done too badly.

Only? Those seem like an assortment of US cars :p

There are specific years in there

69 Mustang
69 Charger
67 Cougar
63 Corvette Stingray

It was a marmite car ... to me just about the ugliest looking but fantastic car ever made. This prototype would have removed the ugly and made it a real winner. Trouble is the Daimler brand had just been bought by Lyons' Jaguar so it might have distracted from their own marque.
Yeah, looks like they have sneaked into the design department of rival manufacturers and cobbled something together. Not ugly, just funny looking.
Front end all gentle curves, rear end all sharp edged and pointy.

The original (ugly) dart was intended for the US market, with its fins. Turns out the yanks didn't like it either - plus they'd never heard if Daimler and there were no dealers over there.

Over here it was one of the fastest cars you could get at the time. Used by a lot of police forces to catch speeding motorists.

At some angles from the front it looks a bit MGBish and from the rear a bit Alpine-ish
And apart from what looks like SU carbs (SU = Sodding Useless) the V8 looks a thing of magnificence
Most of my cars have had SUs - and I love them. Far less trouble than other carbs I've had.
