Andy Lochhead and Willie Irvine were a fantastic double spearhead for Burnley in the mid-60s. In 1965/66, Burnley finished third (just pipped for second by Leeds) after being Liverpool's main challengers that season.

Brian O'Neil and Ralph Coates were two other stars in that 65/66 team. Lochhead went on to be a cult hero at Villa but Irvine was never the same after Johnny Morrissey broke his leg with a horror tackle in an FA Cup replay at Goodison (Everton 2 Burnley 1).
 

I know the ref didn't give a foul for that Morrissey tackle but by all accounts it was a horror.

Burnley produced many fine players throughout the 60s and 70s, notably for us Blues Martin Dobson and Dave Thomas plus, to a lesser extent, Geoff Nulty.
