That Red shirt on Nev tho
I asked the question when I interviewed him. He was limited to colours as in those days goalkeepers wore green. Rapid Vienna wore green and white. The match officials wore black, so a red top was brought in. Not Nev's choice I assure you. That Red shirt on Nev tho
Always gets me
The famous 5-0 rout programme-
God loves a trier and most of us have a soft spot for players like Bernie and The Straq. They struggle to make the all time bad side, nevermind the all time greats. But for effort and attitude (yeah I know some of that attitude bordered on psycho) they'd put any 6 of todays shirkers to shame...thats 6 each mind, not 6 between them.
Bernie the Bolt - The Catt made a few bad signings but he was no 1 bad signing { using some of the fee off Bally too}God loves a trier and most of us have a soft spot for players like Bernie and The Straq. The best game I have ever witnessed. There were many from this era, where we destroyed the opposition, but on this day we were literally on another planet.
The first half was sensational – Man United were torn to absolute shreds – every time ANY of our players gained possession, we put them under insane pressure, moved at lightening pace and threatened their goal. When they somehow managed to get the ball, they managed to hold onto it for about 3 seconds. We could have been 10-0 up at half time, and I’m not exaggerating.
We took our foot off the pedal in the second half, and still scored two. As you left the ground EVERYONE was under the impression that they had just watched the next 1st Division champions, and it wasn’t the favorites – Man United!
Three days later we went to Old Trafford and knocked them out of the Milk Cup.
The following Saturday we went to Anfield. You all know what happened next!
Ah my days, to be a Blue then!!!!
