I can remember my late father and older brother coming home from that 2-0 win - Hurst's goal was a peach playing a one two then slotting it home - we will win the league this season they said how true, I seen most games from then on in as I was a school boy - thats why i missed the night game doh!

One of my old fellas famous stories. ... him and his mate big Ken (sadly long since passed) were in the stretford end at OT behind the goal as Hurst stroked it home to make it 2-0. Big Kens physique was apparently enough to persuade the United lot to allow the young blues to celebrate in peace. After wins at Arsenal and United in the 1st week of the season, you would be convinced it was your season, wouldn't you?

With the certainty of youth I spent all the close season telling anybody who would listen how we were going to win it...it was that obvious.
We played Dundee U. In a friendly the week before the big K.O. and in best Everton fashion promptly went a goal down after 25mins or so.
The lads just upped it a gear or even two and were cruising at 4-1 with time to spare

I've only been that certain twice, once then and at the Bayern game...and we went a goal down there too

A certain new you

A young winger came on for them named Steve Heighway if my memory serves me right game changer!

My memory tells me the game changed when HK went off injured and we had to reshuffle but, yeah, Heighway scored and made at least one of the others, may be both but I don't want to think too much about them!
