Tommy Ring, Everton 1960's- great winger till a double leg break - so I was told -]
My late father raved about him of course it gave a young Derek temple a chance to come in , but a ad loss no medical technology to save a player then career over -I will look on YOUTubeCollision with the Chelsea keeper, Reg Matthews (?). Footage of Ring in his prime on Youtube - Everton putting 4 past West Ham in a match covered by the BBC forerunner of Match of the Day.

1960-1961
Division 1
24 September 1960
Everton 4-1 West Ham United
(Lill, Ring, Vernon 2)
BBC, B&W, 35 seconds
Lovely to see two in action. Ring looked a classic wing man with a sweet left foot. A great team loss & a personal tragedy. Two good wingers in Mickey Lill, and Tommy Ring there
My late eldest brother rated Ring. From what he used to tell me (usually after a few bevvies!!) Evertonians had a whole buffet of class players to choose from then. Strangely though he rated him, Young wasnt mentioned as much as Dennis Stevens, Parker and his favourite, Roy Vernon. Class.. I only wished Id had the chance to see them play. Two good wingers in Mickey Lill, and Tommy Ring there
