Old Everton Pictures

Lovely to see two in action. Ring looked a classic wing man with a sweet left foot. A great team loss & a personal tragedy.
PROUD EVERTON, NOT PRESTON, AT GOODISON Saturday, February 27, 1960. The Liverpool Echo and Evening Express New Men Vern On And Lill Among The Goals-

My late eldest brother rated Ring. From what he used to tell me (usually after a few bevvies!!) Evertonians had a whole buffet of class players to choose from then. Strangely though he rated him, Young wasnt mentioned as much as Dennis Stevens, Parker and his favourite, Roy Vernon. Class.. I only wished Id had the chance to see them play.
I can remember being about 14 or 15 behind Gwladys Street with the 'Boys Pen' near my left, an old feller (About 40?) stood next to
me, we were both clapping yet another mesmeric 'Dribble' by Tommy Ring, the feller said to me "I'm a red lad, but I love watching this
bloke". Considering the RS had Peter Thompson on their left wing at the time, it was a testament to Tommy.
