First keeper to save a penalty in a European Cup penalty shoot out...I seem to remember?
Edit. 4 November 1970,[30] the first ever European Cup shoot out took place between Everton F.C. and Borussia Mönchengladbach, with the side from England this time being the winners 4–3.......or did their keeper save one first. Was there, but it's a long time ago.
Big Joe our pen taker missed the first one - poor pen stright at the keeper -they scored to go one nil we started to leave as we thought that was it - then word got around it was the best of five ... first ever pen shoot out they used to toss a coin...... to see who went through - they missed one off target - till Andy Rankin made the final save with inside the best of five - always remember Sandy Browns pen that night he came on as substitute - it hit the Gwladys st end so hard it came back out- it poured down that night - I was there - the attendance would have been bigger but it was persisting down the whole game - They were a very good team to beat the favourites for the trophy - the Everton way........ kicked out by that Greek team.... Puskus boxed us off as big Joe stated taking the REF to a casino over there...

Silva:

“I don’t like to talk every day about [his future.] I have already told you and told him about what I believe about his qualities.

“Our decision is already made. He is staying of course in our plans. He is our player and needs to work to take his position in our squad.”

Team Mola!!

Yes I was there also. Strange feeling to win a game on pens in those days but ecstasy when Rankin saved it. Only to misery when we lost in quarters to Panathanikos. They were a average side but we should have buried them at home instead of scrapping a draw with last min equaliser from David Johnson. As you say we played 12 men in the second leg and lost on away goals. Panathanikos went on to lose to Ajax in the final at Wembley. It should have been us. Another nearly story ,.,..

I was in the Park end that night I seem to remember the pens were right in front of us but I could be wrong.
Johnny Morrissey scored after about 30 seconds that night but it was a nervy night after that.
