Should have got many more of those.

Sorry to hear about your Mum - hope this helps a little. A goalmouth scramble that sums up that game.

Cheers BigMick,
Yes it was a dreadful night but the pic has cheered me up.
My Mum was a real Evertonian. She came down to Wembley in 66 and sat outside as only me and my Dad had tickets.
She wasn’t showing much response in the last few days but I swear she smiled and clapped her hands on Sunday when I told her the result against Fulham. Thankfully I didn’t have chance to tell her about the Southampton game!

Yep he scored 2 one pen and that goal - a sad day for me - they never gave him and the Latch much of a chance to forge a partnership........
He had back problems and moved to Man City where he hit a rich vein of form to be recalled to the England team.......

Yes I would have liked them to get a longer run together. Joe was never quite as mobile after that back injury, even at City, but he was clever enough to compensate. I suspect Bingham wanted him out as part of his sweeping away the 'old guard' of Catterick's team.

Friday is my favourite day for reading this thread.
When I start dreading a Saturday fearing the worst about how we will get on nowadays I can reflect on the good(and bad) times of yesteryear with a smile again..
Thanks again to all the contributors
My Mum passed away on Wednesday. She had to take me to the Panathanikos game as my Dad was ill so a picture of that game would be greatly appreciated

Condolences to you on the sad loss of your Mum....may She rest in peace. Such a good Mum taking you to that game....I was taken then too. My late Mum bought me a great big flag for the '84 Cup Final to put in our front windows....and she bragged that she stuck it out of the bus window all the way home with it. She was 68 then too ! God bless them hey.

I know the history behind the fences...but really, looking back now, wtf were they thinking

Luton was the scariest place I ever stood in the mid eighties. They had David Evans the right wing Tory MP as their chairman, and he shared Thatcher's views that football supporters were all scum. Massive metal barriers all over the standing areas, with no possible escape. Not to mention an alleyway that ran all the way around the ground for extra stabbing potential!!
