I was in the RAF and at Ascension Island while that game was being played. I managed to listen to the game on the World Service and it seemed like the commentator ended every sentence with '.......... and Southall saves!' That commentary really stuck in my mind and I would love to see the game on tv.

We won the title as a team but just how many points did big Nev win for us on his own that season? The save from the point blank header away to Spurs was worth 2 points by itself and even drew the applause of Ray Clemence in the Spurs goal.

I was coming out of the Forum cinema at the end of the show and I saw Bobby standing there waiting for someone ( it
turned out to be his wife) he saw me looking at him and glared at me, as if to say who the effing hell are you looking at, I was sorry later that I never told him I was an Everton fan and I was made up he played for us, his look was enough to tel me to leave it, I was about seventeen at the time.
