I loved Big Georgie but I agree he was prone to inexplicable errors. Big improvement on Dai and Lawson though!
Apparently Clough and Taylor considered signing George from Blackpool but persuaded their board to fork out the extra for their number one target's wages - Peter Shilton, who they signed just after the 77/78 season started. We, naturally, did things the Everton way and decided not to pay Shilton what he was worth and sign George instead. Of course, Shilton should already have been an Everton player had Bingham been allowed to sign him a few years earlier.

Here's Dai dealing with a cross in his own inimitable fashion. Hurst and Bernard have hearts in mouth, Keegan, who never scored against us, somehow, looks aghast. In Dai's defence I would say at least he didn't attempt to catch it as he would probably have dropped it! Kept a clean sheet that day.
