If only we could draw Milwall again in the F A Cup to avenge that defeat.........Yes the famous battle in the Glawdys street end before the game with st least one fatality very ugly ...
And the beat us 2-0 doh
One of my favourite away games as even as a 12 year old I realised how important a win this was towards winning the leagueIt was to Everton's credit that after Burnley had wiped out a goal by Alan Ball they took command and forged a 2.1 lead. But it was hard graft. Jimmy Husband lost his right-wing place to Alan Whittle for the second time this season. The first occasion was through injury -but against Burnley, Whittle got manager Harry Catterick's vote as Everton sought to inject more scoring punch into their attack. There was a cushion of snow on the pitch, which had been rolled, but the warm sun was thawing the snow along the touchlines. It was obvious that both teams would have trouble keeping their feet. A Burnley breakaway almost led to danger, but a back pass to West was collected safely and Everton set up an attack.
