That game was versus Altrincham in the cup, we scored a late penalty to get a replay, which we won 2-0 at Old Trafford, not sure who scored the pen. at Goodison, Dave Clemence ?....talented footballer was Gary Jones, remember him getting sent off for chinning a bloke when John Connolly had his leg broken. He wasn’t in the least bit that type of aggressive player, though.
We all had high hopes for him but like so many very talented players it just didn’t work out.

I got Tommy Lawton’s autograph at Notts Forest the year we won the league, although we lost that game 1-0, it was the day of the Bradford City fire disaster, I asked Tommy to sign on the Everton team side of the programme, he said “ No problem, that was the club that taught me allI I know about football”
