Old Everton Pictures

Players look totally underwhelmed, I was personally gutted
Don't see the point of it myself (or 3rd place play-offs for that matter) if it was on the sunday I hadn't even got back from drowning my sorrows.
All was forgiven in the midweek game Vs Fulham, were we put very stylish 5 goals on them. Then everybody more or less refused to leave until the players came back out for an end of season lap of honour.

We all agree, Goodison's better than Wembley!!!! Mum would not let me go because it was a school night and I had been crying for pretty much 72 hours and fighting with RS at school!!! My dad was still singing it when he got home!!! He woke me up to tell me the score and what it was like!!!!

That was back when the now customary end of season self congratulation / pat on the back was a rarity and had to earned...we called the players back out...they didn't take it as read, a right for bang average mediocrity.
*ends mini rant.

That famous goal of his on our way to be champions -out of picture is Wayne taking advice of @T LEAFE at the time -
joking apart it was a fantastic lob-
The Blues secured the three points thanks to a pinpoint long range effort from Clarke who calmy placed the ball into Arsenal’s net from over 35 yards out after keeper John Lukic had scuffed a clearance under pressure from Adrian Heath.
