We used the square drain covers as the goals
Our street was on a hill and whoever kicked it had to run down the hill to fetch it
My mate Andy McDougall was a goalie. He was blind in one eye but fearless and as brave as they come. He used to dive all over the place and usually finished a game covered in blood with his glasses broken.Good goalie he was and went on to play non league footie. Mad as a hatter
 

...I love that picture, Joey. My son sent it to me a few years ago. As you say, street footy and not a car to be seen.
The days of playing with a tennis ball, and a Frido it was like a balloon hence you soon learnt ball control - it often punctured easily especially when it went over the wall in the entries of a two up two down back yards, and they knifed it as we were a nuisance - we got it back and played with it burst until it fell apart :eek:
