The Cannonball Kid Dave Hickson a tough robust idol of blues fans in that stylish away Kit in its day -

I was at the replay and it was ugly getting to the ground as both City and Utd fans were picking us off. Within the concourse was the first time I saw how the local police stood back and watch small groups of away fans get attacked by the local Alty fans, who were of course the aforementioned City and Utd fans.I was there they were disgusting broke John Connolly's leg in two places right in front of me in the paddock I heard the snap horrific tackle we clapped them on, for reaching the 3rd round as they paraded in a line to wave to their fans and the Goodison faithful, and they were booed them off they kicked us to bits... that day also Connelly was never the same player after that injury... he was hitting peak form for us too -
Also their goal looked yards offside too...... never went to the replay ... disgusted with them tbh.... they came with a mission to kick us off the park and time waste , and it nearly worked - ugly side imo
Dave Irving I have wondered for years who the sub was that won us the pen.....
Short lived as that would have been us scoring twice to go two up then letting in three. Those two defeats again Carlisle cost us the title.
Probably was Eggs his era etc....slightly before my time, but the goalie might be Bert Trautmann.
I was in the Park End stand that day. We were 2-0 up, lost 3-2. We also lost the return game at Easter 3-0 that finished our season.
