My late father reckoned HC was a bog standard or even poor centre forward for us!....that's Catterick. Another of those who achieved much more as a manager than player, although I dare say a lot of those lads had their playing days interrupted by the war.
The old couple who lived opposite us when I was a kid were the first to get a colour telly and cos I was mad about footie they told my Ma to bring me over for Match of the Day in colour as a treat.....that bleedin day of all days. There was murder in ours because I said I didn't want to go knowing the score...but my Ma got her way in the end drinking port with the old girl while I squirmed for the duration and Hughes go hysterical after his goal. Thank God we got ours from DER in time for the World Cup 70 !!I am absolutely NOT watching that again!! Was bad enough seeing it first time around!!
