Met him many decades ago when he was managing in New Zealand. Had a couple of after game beers with him and he loved reminiscing about his time with the Toffees, though only occasionally turning out for the first team. Wonder were he might be now.

Peter Eastoe great back to goal player - we won this game 5-0 - The Latch scored 3 Eastoe 1 Gidman pen.......

Was at that match. Just one of my many trips across the Irish sea back in the day. The old Belfast - Liverpool ferry was great. Couldn't do all that now...
I was able to get to matches handier when I was back in N.Ireland that when I was working in England or Scotland. Try getting to Goodison from Aberdeen. Just impossible to do ,and back in time for work on monday. Unless you owned a helicopter.....
Anyhow.... Think that we were on a.little run of wins at that time. Latchford and Eastoe were scoring a few goals. Lyons also scoring the odd goal. But it all fell away about March/April time. We couldn't buy a goal.
But the good times were on the horizon........like now........I hope.

lol you lot -- dad was there 1st for that ,,so its lyons holding back bernie
Only joking.....respect to your dad for having played for Everton. I take it that Bernie Wright is your dad. That's about five-six levels above what I played. Which was only a few Irish league matches. I mainly played for the reserve team for a few seasons. (Dropped the football when I started to take on work in England and Scotland).
I'd have given my left @#@@#@@ to have played for Everton. But it was not to be........i'd have been competition for Gary Stevens. Right back was my position...
I jest........I probably played more like Cat Stevens.
So kudos all.around from me to your dad........he lived the dream.
Ps.......still think it best that that ball was left for Mike Lyons......

Did he get a medal? This player does not appear in my failing personal data -base...

As soon as they got promoted the sign of things to come - a stand in player for ian st John scored - then Roger Hunt got their equaliser a few minutes from time -
Plus in the first five minutes many years later Roy Vernon's goal was disallowed as their rookie keeper who was nervous as hell gave the ball to Royston Vernon who scored Yeats told the keeper to dive over, and pretend to be injured - the trainer ran on so quick the ref disallowed a perfect goal it was a regular scam in those days - It was 20 years later when that they admitted the keeper had not been touched - once a load of cheats always a load of cheats -
