elevators wasn't it, not escalators. the stand originally also had a 5 a side football pitch inside it i recall. They were installed when the stand was built in 1969/70.
Brilliant picture that - I have a vivid memory in Alex Young { the Golden Vision} twilight years play at number 7 with a certain Alan Ball in it v Sunderland at home in a night time game Bally and young lit up the team and Alex scored two very good goals as I looked to the Glawdys street the flags adorning him were fantastic - They adored him that crowd in a first half I thin Bally missed his first pen just before half time to make it three nil as the football had been breathtaking - 2nd half alex tired and it was a game of two halfs typical everton we got beat 3-2 -

Re the unamed person in the picture of a few weeks ago.
I made enquiries with the Liverpool Record Office and today have received this email. the mystery goes on.....
I am sorry to report that despite trying numerous old Evertonians, including the Heritage Society, that no one has been able to identify the person in the top right of image 796/EFC/26/2/363.
I am sorry that we have not been able to help.
Close one! Am I right in thinking we were the first/one of the first to use under pitch heating?
