Old Everton Pictures

That was a thrilling game, despite the blank scoresheet. The point we took off Arsenal virtually ended their chance of the title, allowing you know who to steal it. That was Westy's last home game for us - he was in the team because Lawson was injured.

Don't think Dario man-marked Bally in that game, but he did do in the previous two meetings at Highbury when it goes without saying he had him in his pocket.
lol lol lol

I was at that game ,It was a bit lively at the tube station after the game. The same day the first murder of a football fan inside an English football ground took place. A Blackpool fan was Stabbed to death on the terraces by Bolton fans.

I agreed with all that no doubts about it ....but Lancashire we were in so much Lancashire County Council did everything administratively and looked after the highways - schools etc etc as I was in Local government on leaving School & I know for a fact Liverpool was part of Lancashire not in a loose way as you define, but in a big way as was Wigan, Bolton. St Helens, Whiston, Manchester, Preston etc etc It was a massive organisation in its era ..... I can remember Lancashire being on my address up to 1974 I think then reorganisation came ....then the new boundaries were set for good .....
Tbf, Degsy did say originally that the smaller Lancashire towns suffered after the maximum wage was abolished. Burnley, Preston, Blackpool, Bolton or Blackburn are defo smaller than Liverpool and Manchester.

Pretty sure I remember that. Didn't it come a bit after much the same had happened to Moore after a match v Poland away???
I think it was Poland at home, wasn't it? The match where Tomaszewski stopped almost everything and England could only draw 1-1 despite playing them off the park and creating loads of chances.

....not sure if that’s the game Anderson scored a terrific goal with the outside of his right foot in Gwladys Street.
Couldn't be mate. McKenzie was at Chelsea by then. I was at that game. League cup 4th round match. As you say, brilliant goal by Anderson. In fact, the following Saturday I was back at Goodison and saw McKenzie open the scoring for Chelsea. We did win that one though
That pic must be from the season opener in 77-78 when they beat us 3-1.

Poland at Wembley - and the great GK performance - was the one where Norman Hunter made a catastrophic error. Almost certain the Moore mistake was away. Think it's tangerine toffee who remembers it. IDK for certain - I'm Irish!

You're right. Moore got caught on the ball for the second goal in Poland.
