I went to school with Johns (jr.)'s brother Stephen. Also St Mary's College, and hung out in their family home in Blundellsands.
If i remember rightly, he came on as a substitute in the home leg of the Inter Bratislava tie 1985 Cup Winners Cup run. Not sure if that was his senior debut or not.
