My old fella and his dad were good friends of Alex Parker. When one of our pets died Alex, who I understand was quite a carpenter, made a coffin for it. I recall my Dad saying he travelled to Scotland for his funeral somewhere south of Glasgow I think. My old man concurs Joey!!
Looking for some HELP. I am getting married in 4 weeks time and looking to get a present for my Dad, Joe McBride. He played for Everton in the 80s. I want to put together something from his debut in 1979 in the home tie vs Feynoord on October 3rd. Does anyone know where any photos from this game might exist?
I stand corrected. I remember now. He called in on him on his way to Glasgow (he was very much alive at the time!)My old fella and his dad were good friends of Alex Parker. 4000 pages Joey, nearly as many as the new Manager thread! Congratulations, 3900 of them must have your pictures on them!
Here’s to the next 4000
My Dad took a 10 year old me to this game (the previous England v Scotland clash at Wembley was when the Scots had the massive pitch invasion)! George Wood was Scotland's keeper in this match, but I don't remember him having a great game to be honest. I always remember Wembley erupting when Scotland took the lead before England turned it round, they must have had at least 3/4 of the attendance,at least that's how it seemed to me. I do remember big George tackling a pitch invader that had ran into his penalty box!England 3-1 Scotland, British Home Championship, Wembley Stadium, Saturday 26th May 1979; pictured: Bob Latchford of England (left) and Gordon McQueen of Scotland go for the ball. -
