That was my third ever game. I remember my dad buying me a Tommy Wright rosette outside the ground, and as you have mentioned he scored a rare goal. My day was ruined having lost my rosette coming out of the ground. I also remember the referee having to be taken off the pitch and replaced by the linesman. I think the referee was Roger Kirkpatrick.

Roger Kirkpatrick my favorite no nonsense referee used to march the wall back ten yards, and sit on the ball where he wanted the wall - a very comical ref who stood no nonsense in those days -, a bit of a showman , but got most things right imo!

.....and Ian Storey-Moore over Newton's right shoulder. I think he scored a hat trick against us in the FA Cup.

Ha..thats right. Didnt he run into a funny trot ? A few notable refs round that era. Remember that ould git Maurice Fussey haha ?
