1960/61. Sheffield Wednesday half back Tony Kay - The Catt just had to swoop to get him from his former club - Labby stated great footballer, but he knew it a bit big-headed - Bally would have loved playing in his side as he could dish it out - hard as nails - I have just seen missing him as that dreadful lifetime ban came in - doh -

Why doesn't grass gut up as badly on modern pitches?
They have now turfed grass in a nylon mesh, so they roll it out like carpet, plus the drainage systems are A1 plus they are virtually laid on Horticultural washed sand/gravel which absorbs the water - hence you see the sprinklers on even when it's wet weather - plus types of grass seed has advanced tremendously, shade loving grass seed etc with faster germination ......

The technology on premiership grounds produces Wembley style pitches, plus more knowledgeable Groundsmen of all this technology plus far better Lawn Mowers etc ...... the machinery of slide slitting in damp problem pitches where it slits and feeds a gravel style sand into the area plus the seed sowing takes far easier...

Everton's John Hurst is tackled as he challenges for the ball during the League Division One match between Leeds United and Everton at Elland Road stadium in Leeds on 22nd August 1970. Leeds would go on to win the match 3-2. pretty much of a bogey ground for us when playing them --
