He was one of my heroes , one of many then .I rember the first game i saw Howard play at Goodison ,i think he was very young and he played a ball into the box from about 20 yards and it went out for a goal kick.I thought he's rubbish ,but then i looked again ;and it was agreat ball but he was thinking one step ahead of the player he was aiming at , and thats what we some times miss as fans.As a side point i got a sports book and looked at the football section Dixie was there ,and there was a section about new talent coming out of Scotland Dennis Law was there and Jimmy was the other one but i dont think he got many International caps then , it shows you how strong the Scots team was then. What a player Gabby was for us - made way for a certain Howard Kendall.....
My late father was disgusted when they sold Gabby.....He was one of my heroes , one of many then .I rember the first game i saw Howard play at Goodison ,i think he was very young and he played a ball into the box from about 20 yards and it went out for a goal kick.I thought he's rubbish ,but then i looked again ;and it was agreat ball but he was thinking one step ahead of the player he was aiming at , and thats what we some times miss as fans.As a side point i got a sports book and looked at the football section Dixie was there ,and there was a section about new talent coming out of Scotland Dennis Law was there and Jimmy was the other one but i dont think he got many International caps then , it shows you how strong the Scots team was then.

Thanks, didn't have this one in my collection
The goal poacher of his day - he & Dave were prolific in our promotion season in 1954 - JWP scored the most ....... Dave made a hell of a lot with his swash bucking style of a no 9....…Dave Hickson spoke so highly of JW Parker.
Loved watching DT in full-flow. The magic of great wingers, eh?
