Gwladys St never had the criss-cross pattern.

No, it was a bit different from the Bullens Rd and the old Goodison Rd stands, but the point I was making was
that if that photo had taken in the Upper Gwladys, I would've seen straight away where it was.
That photo was taken nearly 60 years ago, don't forget.

Better finisher than Young, I think ... but didn't kow tow to Catterick so that was the end of him.

Yes, remember Royston having to take a penalty three times (all slotted) in the charity shield at GP, what a great player he was,all of ten stone soaking wet,would be difficult to put a value on him on today's prices, yes I loved Royston, R i P .

Royston Vernon had another trait apart from being a great penalty taker - my late father and older brother told me of when I was a small lad he was brilliant at dribbling the ball around the goalkeeper to score - he also had a thunderous shot and yes he made the Golden Vision a lot of his goals - heavy smoker too, even sneaked a smoke in the showers after a game!!

...wow, that's a fantastic piece of trivia I never knew. Looks a bit like John Charles in that pic. Only played there once myself but at least its one thing I have in common with Puskas - what a player he was.
