Born on this day in 1895: Alec Troup.‘Wee Troupie’ was a superb outside-left who put over the crosses for many of Dixie Dean’s goals. 260 Toffees appearances, 35 goals.
1932; Everton defeated Bolton 1-0 to win the Championship, the season after winning the 2nd Division. Dixie scored his 45th goal of the season as Everton completed a record 84 goals at home. They would go on to complete the ‘treble,’ lifting the FA Cup in 1933.
