When we controversially sold hero Dave Hickson to the other lot - my late father was there - Everton were away v Newcastle 7 got hammered 6-0 .....the same night - Dave returned eventually -

Meltdown on Merseyside - When Dave Hickson was sold to the other lot made worse when he scored 2 on debut at Anfield packed with Blues fans as a protest - dave was demoted to the reserves with the Blues then sold to the other lot -
Gentleman John Carey introduced as Manager - he came 5th & he was sacked - John Moores wanted the no 1 position -
Jimmy Husband a flying forward winger who was very fast & direct scored many a goal for us - The Catt stated over 6 yards he was the fastest - he had seen to skip past a defender hence his nickname Skippy - he at his peak was unplayable & defenders just kicked bits out of him eventually curtailing his promising career - no protection back then - I witnessed on tackle by the veteran Dave Mackay Jimmy was through on goal & Mackay took him out with a two footed tackle waist high - uproar emerged jimmy sadly stretchered off - Dave McKay was not even booked in a home league cup game v Derby County then in a division below - we lost the replay 1-0- after a 0-0 draw at Goodison where we did everything but score - Jimmy was through & would have scored -
Westy - Here he is coming to claim the ball - 14 & 1/2 stone & he took no prisoners & had fantastic reflexes for a big keeper - for @westychan & co -
