Reading his autobiography Royston Vernon which I helped to donate to print - what a read it really was seeing him only as a six-year-old - they joke about his cigarette smoking from the age of 11 years old which they stated he could have become a world-class player in the Dennis Law mould - his pace over a short distance was incredible - imagine if maybe without the smoking his energy levels could have been much higher even better ?
What a world-class player he may have become, as it was, he was an Everton great sometimes overshadowed by the GV but no doubts he was a rebel ... as Captain he went in to represent players only to fail for them & cut a better deal for himself - Sany brown found out & chased him all over Goodison - Roy only ever missed one pen out of many at Spurs away he scoffed the ground - he used to point & tell the keeper which corner the ball was going in sometimes - an incredible striker - for @roy vernon -
