Paying at the Gate was a good way of fans voting with their feet with no queues for tickets before seating cut capacity down in grounds - in a way a protest of poor football to watch - e.g. any team is guaranteed the gate monies what ever the performance is like !

It also has an adverse of travelling away fans - with the ticket overpriced for away fans to a limited number, too.

Seating in stadium famous for standing on terraces in old grounds like ours is a good example - in the modern days of now computerisation - standing behind each goal should be allowed via H&S the numbers at a safe level would add to atmospheres at all the grounds & it should let more in & be more affordable too -

Let's face it most fans who sit behind the goal stand up anyway ... the main protagonist LFC are famous for doing it apart from Hillsborough where the main fans who got sadly killed unfairly it was the police at fault - other games not so -, but all teams in those days had hooligans in an element of their crowds - a safe limit behind the goals would be nice to see come back IMO ....
