Handy Sandy. In the days of only one substitute,Sandy was invaluable, he really could cover pretty much every position on the pitch, I'm sure I even remember him playing half a match in goal. Unfortunately his versatility takes away from what a decent left back he was. His big problem was that he followed Ray Wilson into the team, a hard act to follow and he is always remembered for that own goal against the RS. Very few remember the absolutely brilliant header he scored for is against them, i think,the next season.
….presume Armfield picked up a medal for being part of the 1966 squad. No subs in those days.
