Heyworth Street once had many pubs. May Duncan's or what was once 'The Thistle' is one of the last left standing, this one on the Everton Park side of the road -

I've always found this photo a bit weird. St. Winefrides School(?) (Park Street, Toxteth) is ablaze while children play and mess about seemingly uninterested. From the early 80's I believe.
…..perhaps somebody had listened to their song;
I used to use thr Knotty Ash arms….one of the last to have buzzers in the lounge that you press and the the barmaid would come and get your order. Looks rejuvenated since the new Alder Hey opened opposite.
I used to use thr Knotty Ash arms
It used to be just around the corner from Ken Dodd's house opposite the village hall ..used to walk 2 miles there with my girlfriend now my wife ....
Its open now, got a bar showing sports apparently, according to the blurb…I think it was the Knotty Ash Hotel, Joey. After it closed, the building has had a few iterations and I understand it’s opening soon as an Indian Restaurant.
