You don't think he could do a job for us?One can hope.
I think I've been open about my personal opinion in here. A club with apparent ambition of top 4, as we are told, does not sell a Romelu Lukaku for £75m and replace him with a 31 year old bench warmer from a club we are trying to displace. You don't think he would improve the current Everton squad?

He may make our squad 'better', but that should not be the determining factor alone.
We should look for better.
Maybe I'm the only one in here.
I get all that. I'd prefer we go for a younger up and comer. Was beaten to the question
Fair enough... I just think we have to make incremental improvements in the striker department this season. The striker wanted away, we needed a stable squad, and the money comes in handy.
We won't be able to attract a proven 20-30 goal a season striker, as there aren't any for sale, and if there were, they'd not be joining us... "Just yet".
We need to find a number of players who can add 10-15 goals per season and make up the large gap left by Lukakau that way.
May well be. I don't think he fits our long term goal though.Fair enough. Personally I think he'd be perfect for us for instant improvement this season.
Totally agree. We've already got Rooney. If Giroud arrives as well then our attack will be in decline over the next couple of years.I think I've been open about my personal opinion in here. Agree with that side also. But who?I get all that. I'd prefer we go for a younger up and comer.
We have enough money to make it talk.
My guess would be Koeman and Walsh's thinking is it's better to throw 20m at an experienced striker who is likely to do the business now and get us closers to that top 4 and if we break into the elite then we spend serious money on a striker the next level up.I get all that. I'd prefer we go for a younger up and comer.

Bas Dost ticks all of the boxes for me (based on YouTube and Wikipedia admittedly). Was beaten to the question
