Oscar Pistorius trial discussion

Smacking a wooden door with a bat in an echoed room could be misinterpeted as gunshots.

Personally can see him getting off with it
Is there an echo if a window is wide open? Because that's what he claimed. Or did he calmly shut the window prior to blowing his girlfriend's brains out?

Doesnt matter if a window is open, clap your hands in a tiled room and listen, plus the toilet was in its seprate room in the bathroom

Anyway I just don't think you could mistake the two sounds. In any case the neighbour is adament there were multiple female screams before these four sounds (incidentally there were four bullets shot). Why would his girlfriend have screamed like that if it was the cricket bat? After all, Pistorius claims he used this after he'd shot her, after she'd been killed (one bullet in head if I remember rightly). It doesn't add up, does it?

Think it will be intresting to hear the angle of the gunshots to see if he was on his stumps or had his legs on.

Im sure his defense will produce acoustic profesionals and ballistic pros to prove his side if hes telling the truth or porkys

Aye that'll be interesting as they'll be able to tell not only the angle but the distance too. Saw something on Sky t'other day and it made me think they'll be pretty easily able to determine if he was telling lies. Surely if they can prove he was standing then he has to be found guilty, right?

I also think he'll get away with it, by the way. But he deffo is guilty as sin.

Reckon he's guilty as sin, myself. Might as well plead not guilty, though. At least gives you a chance. If he pleads guilty he's in for life anyway so it makes no difference.

At very best he's guilty of manslaughter due to his reckless use of a firearm. I agree with you though, he's as guilty as sin, as for whatever reason he lost it & blew her head off. I still reckon the slippery [Poor language removed] will get off though, the bail hearing showed how this case will go.

You know what evidence aobut hearing noises is pretty conclusive, as a neighbor would only scream multiple times if she was scared, and pistorious hitting the door with a cricket bat wold not envoke screams unless there was a clear motive to him doing that. Plus hitting with the cricket bat would mean she would have had time to call out to him before the door was opened so he could recognise it was her and not an intruder which means if he went ahead and shot her anyway then he would have had enough notice and time to distinguish who it actually was.

And one other thing, if he thought it was an intruder in the house, looking at the room of the toilet, and his eagerness to defend his home, he would have just shot through the door and therefore hit whatever was inside before opening, making the encounter much more one sided in his favour. The fact he apparently opened the door first without knowing what has on the other side means he was either extremely reckless in this regard or.....

He meant to kill who was on the other side.

BOOM, cased closed.

He's just been dobbed in by his mate who told the court Oscar shot a gun under a restaurant table and got another of his mates to take the blame, just one month before he killed his girlfriend.

I think this will go some way to prove his cavalier attitude towards firearms...

If you're in bed with your partner & you wake up for a piss in the middle of the night, and use the en suite bathroom, why on Earth would you lock the bathroom door? On that fact alone he should be totally screwed.

Yep. No doubt his lawyer will claim this was a strange habit of hers.

I stil believe he'll get off. Maybe a deferred sentence.

Then there'd no doubt be ex boyfriends who could corroborate this fact then.......

I hope they pursue that line, as surely it'd be viewed as odd to anyone really?
